Compression is all about control of dynamics. So what better way to test a compressor pedal than feeding it with a short groove that contains palm-muted playing style as well as occasional slap phrases, covering the outer areas of the dynamic field.

Please listen to the DRY version first and pay special attention to the difference in dynamics between the muted and slapped parts. Then listen to each of the pedals at subtle, medium and heavy compression settings.

All compressor pedals are unique and some have more controls and features than others. For instance if a pedal offers parallel compression, I may use that feature (or I may not), but for more specific details, please go to the full review of each pedal where you will find many more sound clips.

 

 

NOTE! Please use headphones or ‘real’ speakers. You simply can’t judge low-end material on laptop, tablet or phone speakers…!
